OTUARO ASSURES DELTANS ON PEOPLE-ORIENTED GOVERNANCE

otuaro1The Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro has given assurances that the state government under the leadership of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is a government of engagement that will continue to seek the interest of the people in order to deliver on its SMART agenda.

Barr. Otuaro made the assertion during a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel .E. Sideso, (JP), Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, at Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.

The deputy governor assured his royal majesty that government will continue to acknowledge the input of stakeholders in the state on important issues and projects before decisions will be taken, while government on its own will also be taking a personal study about these issues and projects.

“This government led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is a government of engagement, a government that takes the interest of the various stakeholders and leadership of the people into cognizance in whatever thing we want to do. We don’t want to see ourselves as a government unilaterally taking decisions without recourse to royal fathers and, of course, the good people of the kingdoms as well as other stakeholders in the state”, Barr. Otuaro said.

He expressed his appreciation on the warm reception accorded him by his royal majesty, adding that the support received from the Monarch and other well meaning Deltans contributed greatly to their resounding success in the Governorship polls.

“Your royal majesty, I appreciate the honour given to me and my entourage, most especially, the prayers. During the campaign, we receive a lot of these prayers and like you said, the prayers will continue and will never stop. So as your sons, we are always prepared to receive all of these prayers and we know very strongly even when we are not with you physically, the prayers are on- going”, he said.

In his own comments, the Uvwie monarch commended the state deputy governor for the respect shown to him and the traditional stool of Uvwie Kingdom, adding that with humility, one can achieve great feats.

He noted that Barr. Otuaro was a humble person who had always shown respect for elders and tradition of the people and assured the Delta Deputy Governor that with such qualities, he was well poised to tackle the challenges of governance in Delta State.

According to the Monarch, “One of the greatest virtues a man can possess is humility and you will conquer even your enemy by being humble”, HRM Abe 1, stated.

He then advised the state deputy governor to remain committed to the course of good governance and to always stoop low in order for him to conquer, adding that he should remember where he is coming from and remember his people in bringing home the much desired development to the area.

HRM Abe 1, who also used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Okowa and his deputy on the just concluded election, assured that as a royal father, he would continue to pray for them.

“We will continue to pray for you and the governor. I congratulate you on your election victory. We know that with both of you as a team and with commitment to good governance, you people will succeed in government”, he stated.

The Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Steve Eruotor, former Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Pastor Powell Tos Ojogho and pioneer DESOPADEC Chairman and the Bolowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Wellington Okrika, among others.
