Members of the Nigerian National Union of unemployed graduates, (NNUG) Delta state chapter, led by the President General of the union Comdr Pastor Paul Avwarote, has expressed optimism that the administration of the Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa will not disappoint the state, especially on job creation and youth empowerment, considering the developmental status of the Governor before now.
The Union who made the statement during their just concluded general meeting of the Union, noted that all unemployed graduates in the state are looking up to the Governor following their huge support for him that led to his election victory. And that Prosperity for all Deltans and provision of jobs for the unemployed formed the major part of his manifestos.
They also pledge to continue to support his administration and use the body in ensuring that there is peace and harmony among the teeming youths that constitute the bulk of the unemployed graduates in the state.
The spokesman of the group, for Delta state, Mr Otuya Ben also used the Opportunity to appreciate the effort of the National patron of the Union, Bishop Nmalagu Greatman, who even when the Governor could not meet with the group during the campaigns, used his good office in seeking the support of all the unemployed graduates in Delta state to support the Governor. He further noted that the best means of enhancing peace, good development and eradicating crimes and other vices, is by providing job for the unemployed.
The National Patron in the same vein, also called on all Deltans to continue praying and supporting the present administration as there is no doubt that the present administration will bring about positive changes to the state.
While advising the Governor on how to reduce unemployment in the state, the legal adviser of the group, Barr Kingsley Egbon also appealed to the Governor for the need to create a ministry of wealth and employment creation, that will focus on employment and job creation and to drive the economic agenda of the state.
The Union which is bent on pursuing the course of all unemployed graduate in the state, by making them gainfully employed, is also aimed at helping the Government to fight the menace of ghost workers in the state as people who are certified were said to be unemployed while those with fake documents were receiving salaries.
