Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has appointed Mr. Kingsley Ikem Azuh as his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties.
Mr. Azuh, a senior and well respected Journalist and member of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, was until his appointment, an Assistant Chief Information Officer at the state Ministry of Information, and has also served excellently as Information Officer in the Ministries of Health and the Office of the Secretary to the Delta State Government, amongst other distinguished career responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the appointment of Comrade Azuh, which was greeted with great rejoicing and endorsement, both within the media constituency and across the Information constituency of the Civil Service, has been hailed, especially by the Director of Information, Delta State Ministry of Information, Mr. Paul Osahor and the Delta State Chairman, NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Norbert Chiazor, as well deserved and just reward for hard work and merit.
Osahor, who lauded Governor Okowa for the confidence reposed in Mr. Azuh by elevating him to such an important position of responsibility, noted with joy that the appointment is an eloquent testimony to the fact that the State Governor has once demonstrated his vow to ensure that his appointments would be based on credibility, hard work and merit.
The Director of Information pointed out that by appointing Azuh to the very critical and privileged position as SSA (Special Duties), Governor Okowa has underscored the central role which Information Officers play as a link between the government and the people, adding that the presence of Azuh in the Governor’s team will surely enhance a more robust information dissemination agenda going forward in the administration.
In his own remarks, Delta State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Norbert Chiazor, said that Governor Ifeany Okowa could not have appointed a better man into his administrative team, than Mr. Kingsley Azuh, whose commitment, loyalty and steadfastness has become a positive reference point for outstanding leadership in the NUJ, both in Delta State and nationally.
The Delta NUJ Chairman, who noted the dedicated commitment of Comrade Azuh towards ensuring the enthronement of peace and the survival and sustenance of the Delta NUJ over the years, added that the newly appointed SSA (Special Duties) was a loyal team player who would bring his wealth of administrative experience and overall goodwill enjoyed from across the media and information constituencies to bear on his new responsibilities, even as he assured that he had no doubts that Comrade Azuh will discharge his duties impressively and successfully.
Chiazor said: “The appointment of comrade Kingsley Azuh is just reward for rare loyalty, outstanding service and selfless commitment. He is a round peg in a round hole. The NUJ family salutes Governor Okowa for the honour done to a deserving member. Thank you, Your Excellency”, the Delta NUJ chairman enthused.
They equally used the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Kingsley Azuh for the appointment and while charging him to see the elevation as a call to greater service delivery, prayed the good Lord to give him the wisdom, courage and guidance to discharge his duties with the efficiency and excellence he is renowned for, as he proceeds to define his reputation as a worthy ambassador of both the NUJ and State Ministry of Information, Delta State.
Both men then thanked Governor Okowa for the recognition accorded Mr. Azuh and while assuring that the appointment would further consolidated the very harmonious relationship that already exists between the state Government and the collective Information community.
They further pledged that Information officers and Journalists in the State Civil Service and other media establishments would accept the hand of fellowship offered with the appointment, by leveraging on all the platforms available in their operations, to promote, project and present the activities of Government, towards the successful accomplishment of the S.M.A.R.T and the achievement of Prosperity for all Deltans as promised by the Okowa administration, even as they prayed that the Almighty God gives Governor Okowa the wisdom, patience, good health and accommodation to take Delta State to greater heights in his administration.
