The Community Newspaper Publishers Association of Nigeria (CONPAN), Delta State Chapter, has assured the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North LGA, Hon. Chuks Oseme, that the Association was poised to seek greater synergy with the Council towards promoting grassroots development initiatives, through vigorous community media platforms.
According to the State Chairman of CONPAN, Comrade Patrick Ochei, “Our mission here today is simple. Our aim is to connect with the grassroots populace at every sphere of the socio-political endeavour and ultimately promote, project and celebrate the various community and indigenous interests and agenda, through dedicated and vigorous media initiatives, driven by the diverse media publications and platforms of the Community Newspaper Publishers Association of Nigeria (CONPAN)”.
Ochei commended Hon. Oseme for the impressive feat recorded in bringing back electricity supply to Issele-Uku, the Aniocha North LGA Headquarters after seven years, adding that with this historic achievement, Hon. Oseme has already been elevated to the pantheon of great statesmen and leaders in the annals of Aniocha North history and this feat will be remembered forever in the folklore of Aniocha narratives.
The publisher assured the LGA Chairman of the willingness of CONPAN to continue to promote the patriotic purpose of his honest leadership for the collective growth and development of Delta State and called on the Chairman not to relent in his effort at building a virile Aniocha North Council and bequeath a legacy of performance to hall his tenure, adding that it was CONPAN’s resolve to perform its corporate social responsibility in assisting the various LGAs in the state protect and nurture the growth and sustenance of democracy towards greater height.
In his response, Hon. Oseme appreciated the CONPAN leadership for the visit and pledged his support to the association, towards ensuring that the grassroots people are well informed about government policies and programmes at all times.
The Aniocha North Council boss then appealed to the publishers to adopt an open-minded approach as pacesetters in information dissemination and management, even as he urged the media to try as much as possible to down-play rumours, adding that it pays to report fact and truth.
Oseme attributed his achievement in ensuring the resumption of power supply in Issele-Uku, to a dedicated policy of showing leadership in the face of dwindling allocations and assured the people of Aniocha North that he would explore all possible avenues within his powers, to attract the delivery of more dividends of democracy to the people.
