The Delta State Labour Party, LP has once again expressed full confidence that it will come out victorious at the end of proceedings in the Delta State elections petition tribunal, sitting in Asaba, Delta State.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Zik Zulu Okafor, LP Delta State Media & Strategy Committee, who also noted that while the PDP and Governor Okowa had no witness of truth to defend their victory at the polls, despite telling the tribunal that they would call 60 witnesses, the present administration in Delta state was only a temporary one which, for obvious fears, has been very busy identifying making ‘rerun appointments’.
The statement titled: Governorship Election Tribunal Update: ”JUDGMENT COMING SOON AS INEC, LIKE OKOWA AND PDP, ABANDONS DEFENCE”, reads thus: “Today, INEC closed its case without calling a single witness. The same INEC in Delta that had earlier boasted of 60 witnesses! With this, the Tribunal has fixed October 13, 2015 for the adoption of written addresses. There shall be judgment thereafter on a date to be announced by the Tribunal.
“We knew that INEC in Delta would dare not call a witness. It has no witness of truth to defend the unmerited and fraudulent return of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. “We knew they were ‘raking’ when they said they would call 60 witnesses. We knew from the moment we closed our case that INEC in Delta lacks the capacity to testify on the ‘senseless rigging’ because its own records testify to extreme lawlessness, illegitimacy and impunity in the guise of an election that opened the way for the temporary misrule of an impostor in Delta – one who, for obvious fears, has been very busy identifying making ‘rerun appointments’.
“We knew that INEC in Delta would be labouring to discredit the unshakable evidence of INEC Headquarters that Okowa’s return is unsupported by any shred of credible accreditation evidence.
“At this point let us say little. Suffice to say that we have discharged the duty of standing against falsehood which we owe the electorate of Delta. That solemn duty is to reverse the wrongful return of a man who did not win the election. That duty extends to ensuring that we do everything for the electoral will of our people to be respected. Deltans deserve the Governor of their choice. That is about to happen.
“We must salute our Leader, Chief Great Ogboru who, living for only the truth, consistently motivates our people to believe in the huge promise of a genuinely democratic Delta State that is fair to all. Keep praying, Deltans.”
