OKENYI WARNS DEVELOPERS ON LAND RACKETEERING

okenyiPrivate developers who have found a new haven on the lands at Issele-Azagba along the Benin-Asaba Express Road and its axis have warned not to encroach on unauthorized sites or risk having their buildings forfeited or demolished.

The Delta State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Chief Dan Okenyi, gave the warning when he received members of the state’s Land Allocation Committee who paid him a courtesy call in his office yesterday in Asaba.

He expressed satisfaction with the membership of the committee, noting that they are competent people with integrity. The commissioner urged to bring their wealth of express to bear so that land allocation in the state will be done in a professional manner.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the committee, Chief Godwin Ogadi, said they are seeking to familiarize themselves with the principal officers of the Ministry in order to establish a harmonious working relationship, understanding and cooperation with them.

Ogadi appealed to the commissioner to provide a conducive environment to enable them discharge their duty effectively. On the chairman’s entourage is Mr. Kumane Oghome, secretary of the committee. Others are Chief Joseph Akpoze, Chief John Okoroke, Prince Akpofemi and Mr. P. H. Ashibuogu.
