The state commissioner for works Honourable James Augoye moved his inspection tour of field offices and ongoing roads projects in the twenty five local government areas to Delta North Axis of the state.
And it was revealed that the present administration has completed four new roads and drainage projects in Ika North East Local government area.
The roads included the 0.600km Onyeacholem street with spur to Onyeacholem close, the 0.805km Edwin Ikechukwu road where the chairman of the Uzorinma community Mr. Augustine Okoh thanked the state governor, senator ifeanyi okowa for including the community among the foremost beneficiaries of his administration.
He however appealed for the provision of drains to curb the issue of flooding but the works commissioner hon. James Augoye doused his fears saying the terrain did not require one since the road was constructed, on a natural slope.
The other roads completed in Ika North East Local Govt. Area were the 1.037km Ikokogbe Idumizormor road and the 1.11km palace loop road in Owa Oyibu, where the contractor Reginalo R and N Nigeria Limited freely constructed a 2.3km road with drains as his contribution to the development of the community.
The only recently awarded road yet to be completed in the Ika north east local Govt. area is the.0.698km Ogala Chukwuemeka road with spur to Oruola close.
Roads in Ika South also include the 5.88km middle section of the Alisimie- Ozanogogo road, and the 9.4km dualization of old Lagos Asaba roads.
Others are the 1.25km Upper Imudia/Dr. White street, the 1.209meters Orikeze street with spur to Orukeze close and the 523meters Idumu Ugbo street to Alice Ohumagholem close.
At the project sites of roads in Oshimili North Local government area, the works commissioner, James Augoye frowned at the slow pace of work on the Okpanam road dualization project, adding that he has scheduled a meeting with the contracted company, Traxtrix Nigeria Limited to discuss how to expedite work so as to complete the road before the rainy season.
The Commissioner also inspected roads in the Oshimili south local government area where he told Bobcat Construction limited, the contracting firm handling the 838meters Usonia street to ensure that the drains were properly constructed and channeled to curb the waterlogged problem usually experienced by residents during the rainy season.
He commended the pace and quality of work of contractors handling the 1.710meters cable road dualization, the 120meters access road to Christ Embassy church off summit road, the 420meters Esenwa streest, off DLA road and the 530 meters access road to the Orthopedic and General Surgical wards and Doctors quarters, Federal Medical Center, FMC Asaba.
The acting Medical Director of the FMC Asaba, Dr. Osiatoma Victor commended the state government for the road project saying it has eased mobility and has given the health facility a face lift.
The inspection tour is expected to continue with visits to Ughelli North, Isoko South and Patani Local Government Areas.
