OKOWA HOSTS WRIGHT GLOBAL GROUP, APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF MODULAR REFINERIES IN DELTA

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, today, Friday, February 12, 2016, approved the establishment of Modular Refineries in Delta State when he played host to an international consortium, the Wright Global Group, WGG, whose delegation, headed by Mr. Isaac Wright (Managing Director), was led to Government House, Asaba by pioneer Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief (Dr.) Wellington O. Okirika.

Governor Okowa, said that the decision of his administration to support the establishment of modular refineries in the state, was to create jobs for its unemployed youths, adding that establishing the refineries in Escravos and the oil-rich riverine communities would place them close to the source of their raw materials.

“Modular refineries will provide jobs for our people. It will bring job opportunities close to the people and also bring the product close to the people and to the market at a reasonable rate.

“We will support this partnership, especially with the fact that it will provide job for our people and you are providing the funding 100 percent.

“It is our hope that everything works; the government of Nigeria is also supporting the establishment of modular refineries because that is the right way to go,” Okowa said.

He assured the investors of adequate security, adding that the state was largely peaceful.

The governor said that the state government was working hard to ensure that the youths were employed and to create an enabling environment for investors.

“We are investor-friendly people and we will give you the best of support we can give to you as a state government,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director, Wright Global Group, WGG and leader of the delegation, Mr. Isaac Wright said that his organization would provide 100 percent funding for the modular refineries, which will amount to an estimated 400 million dollars (about N78.8 billion), and assured that the project would be completed in a couple of years.

According to him, the organization proposed to establish the refineries in Escravos and Koko communities in the state.

In his own comments, Chief Wellington Okirika noted that the issue of the establishment of Modular Refineries in Delta State, had been on the front burner for some time and this partnership was a fulfillment of a dream come true for him.

He praised Governor Okowa for the Visionary initiative to follow-up on this very laudable project and assured the Governor and Deltans that the establishment of Modular Refineries in Delta State will not only be a great revenue generating project that will further enhance the actualization of the SMART Agenda but indeed help in fulfilling the prosperity for all Deltans mandate of the Okowa administration.

Other members of The Wright Global Group (WGG) delegation, on the courtesy visit to Governor Okowa included Mr. Rogers Christopher Francis (Vice President), Engr.
