The Comrade community in Delta state has been thrown into morning with the sad news that Mrs. Beauty Bayagbon, the loving mother of one of the leaders of the comrade community in the state, Mr. Palmer Bayagbon popularly known as “General” was sadly snatched away by the cold hands of death on February 29, 2016.
She had been flown to India for a successful kidney transplant was done in September 2015, and had commenced her robust and dynamic, bubbling existence until her regular medical check-up revealed that her sugar levels had risen considerably and required immediate medical attention to stabilize it.
A referral to the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital, Ibadan had been recommended and she had been moved to the hospice where the high sugar level was successfully stabilized and she had been under observation and to convalesce.
She had been due to be discharged on March 2, but was called into the bosom of the Lord on February 29, 2016, which intriguingly was exactly 24 years after her husband had passed on.
Reacting to her passage, her son, Mr. Palmer Josh Eweka Usimo Bayagbon, popularly refered to as ‘General’ and who was the immediate past Special Assistant to the immediate past Commissioner for higher Education Delta state, Prof. Hope Eghagha, described his mother as one of a kind, a mother and a woman of beauty and virtue, who exuded love, warmth and kindness to all who came her way.
‘General’ in his words said: “She was a mum like no other, a rare gem, a woman of substance. Yes you have fought the good fight and finished the race and there awaits you, a crown of righteousness. I am consoled because we will surely meet again on the resurrection morning. Madam Beauty Bayagbon will be missed by all as her motherly care knew no bounds when she was alive. Adieu Mama till we meet again, to part no more.”
The rites of passage and interment ceremonies have been fixed for May 2, with a Service of songs in Lagos and the proper burial ceremony on May 6, 2016, in Warri, Delta State.
