OKOWA URGES UNITY, COOPERATION AMONG PDP FAITHFUL

It was a carnival like atmosphere with a mammoth crowd on 22-04-16 at Oghara, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State, as Peoples’ Democratic Party [PDP] faithful from Delta Central Senatorial District organized a victory reception in honour of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Speaking at the Reception, Senator Dr lfeanyi Okowa urged party faithful to co-operate with party leaders, “be accommodating and united so as to build a stronger PDP family that would move the state forward”, stressing that aspirants in the forthcoming PDP Congress should comport themselves and not result to cheap blackmail and intimidation.

“As a people, we must stay united for our party to wax stronger in all the 270 wards in the state, as a united party we will move the state forward. PDP is a party that is accommodating, so we should learn to accommodate anyone that is interested in joining the party.” he said,

“I plead with every member to co-operate with party leaders, for those vying for positions in the forthcoming state congress, let us conduct ourselves well.” He added.

“I appeal to all aspirants that have resorted to blackmail and intimidation to desist from it, we are one party so let us work together in unity to elect state executives that will have the collective interest of all Deltans, we should tread with caution and work together as a party.”

Dr. Okowa explained that it was no longer time to play party politics based on sectionalism but the time to work together as a party to support government and deliver the dividends of democracy to Deltans saying ” it is time to think Delta and work for the benefit of Deltans, l promise to be fair, just and equitable in the development of the state.”

He expressed his appreciation to the people of Delta Central Senatorial District especially PDP Leaders and followers for honouring him explaining that his victory at the 2015 gubernatorial election and in the tribunals was as a result of the massive support he got from the people of district.

While reeling out some of the state government’s achievements in the Senatorial District, Senator Okowa said that N400m has been earmarked for development of roads in Abraka, the dualization of Ughelli – Asaba Road, dualisation of Amukpe Road, Sapele, Roads in Orerokpe, Elume, Ugbomro, Oghara and Jesse among others and renovation of some primary and secondary school projects.

He assured them that “My administration will stay focused to our goal and we will do our best to manage the resources of the state effectively despite the challenging times in the country.”

ln a welcome address, the PDP Chairman, Delta Central, Sir Tom Amioku, said that the victory of Governor Okowa was the collective responsibility of all Deltans and that there was cause to thank God because Senator Okowa was the people’s choice and he has combined his creative management of human and material resources to positively impact on all sectors of the economy.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Brodericks Bozimo, observed that the Okowa administration would move the state and party to enviable heights in the country given the level of developmental strides already achieved while Chief Edwin Uzor, the State PDP Chairman, thanked God for the victory and the people of Delta Central for the reception and urged members especially all those elected and appointed to be 100% loyal to the party.

Earlier, the governor and his entourage was at the Palace of the Ovie of Oghara, Orhefe III, on a courtesy visit, where he commended the royal fathers in Delta Central for coming out en mass to receive him and assured them of his administration’s commitment to be pro-active in achieving his SMART agenda for the benefit of all and called for the continued support of the traditional rulers
