Esiso9Barrister Kingsley Esiso, Special Adviser to Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on Library, has emerged as the new Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta State, Chairman and has pledged to deliver a fair, just, equitable, but firm leadership, as he pilots the affairs of the Party in the state, in the next four years.

This is also as Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking after the successful conclusion of the Delta State PDP congress, which held on Tuesday 10/05/16, at the Cenotaph in Asaba, the Delta State capital, hailed the peaceful congresses recorded by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Ward to the state level, describing them as clear testimonies that, “Deltans are organized and peaceful people.”

In what was apparently an affirmation of a seemingly already determined arrangement by the Delta PDP, Chief Esiso was elected unopposed, alongside 5 (Five) other key party officials, in a smooth, peaceful and well organized election process, supervised by officials from the Party Secretariat in Abuja, where state delegates from the Twenty Five Local Government Areas in the state, filed out in an orderly manner, first for accreditation and then voting proper, after which the votes were collated and winners declared.

Barr. Esiso, who hails from Okpara Inland in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State and is a duly registered member of PDP; a card carrying member of the Party, registered in Ward 2 in Sapele Local Government Area, who has also diligently served the PDP over the years, was elected at the congress which was conducted by an 11-man team from the PDP Secretariat in Abuja, led by Dame (Mrs.) Uzo Nwandu and supervised by a team of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Others who emerged victorious in the congress alongside Chief Esiso, were, Barr. Val Arenyinka, who was elected as Deputy Chairman; Mr. Moses Iduh – Vice Chairman (Delta North Senatorial District); Chief Dr A. Fovie, Vice chairman – (Delta Central Senatorial District); Hon. Emmanuel Agbanigbo, Vice Chairman – (Delta South Senatorial District); Chief Godday Nzeteh – Secretary,

They were joined in the new Delta PDP Exco, in an election conducted through voice vote, by Mr. John Okoroloko, Assistant Secretary; Hon. Deighan Macaulay, Treasurer; Hon. Tony Anuku, Assistant Treasurer; Mr. Ralph Asi, Financial Secretary; Hon. Michael Osuoza, Publicity Secretary; Mr. London Owofasa, Assistant Publicity Secretary; MrSunday Onoriode, Organizing Secretary; Barr. Odior Bernard, Legal Adviser; Barr. Hessington Okolo, Assistant Legal Adviser; Chief J. J. Scott, Auditor; amongst others.

Governor Okowa, while commending the conduct and outcome of the elections, stated, “We thank God for a very peaceful congress in our state, the Ward and local government congresses were peaceful and Delta State has shown that we are organized people, we are proud of ourselves.

“In a very peaceful congress, we have been able to elect our 27-man executive committee for our great party, the PDP. I commend PDP faithful, I commend the youths for the roles they played and I thank our women and our elders for their commitment to our party,” the Governor emphasized.

The Governor also, commended the immediate past executive committee of the party in the state for a job well done, saying; “And I know that in going into the congresses, Chief Edwin Uzor, the immediate past Chairman of the party, worked tirelessly for us to have the consensus situation that we have today.

“I congratulate the executive committee and I want to call on all Deltans to partner with us. Deltans should pray for us and I appeal to our brothers and sisters who are still attacking oil facilities to embrace peace. They need to be patient with the state and the federal government because things will turn out to be better. For now oil prices are down but, we are working for the internally generated revenue to increase and see great hope and promise in the future,” he said, disclosing that plans were on to engage the youths and women as liaison officers at different Wards of the state to assist in monitoring projects at that level.

Speaking on behalf of the elected officers, the newly elected Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso thanked members of the party for the confidence reposed in the ability of the elected members to take the party to greater heights, assuring that the PDP winning streak would be sustained, adding that his executive committee would sustain the zoning formula of the party.

Esiso said, “I will be fair, I will be just, I will be equitable, but I will also be firm in dealing with matters that concern the party and members”, even as he emphasized that once the Party takes a decision by consensus, then that decision must be deemed as binding on all party members and will be fully implemented to the letter, because the slogan during his tenure would ‘Party is Supreme.’

Barr. Esiso equally pledged his full support for the defined zoning formular in the PDP and advised ‘his brothers’ from Delta Central to forget about contesting the governorship until 2023, affirming that Delta North will be complete its mandatory two terms and no one should do anything to challenge or jeopardize that arrangement.

The new Delta PDP Chairman then expressed his gratitude to Governor Okowa, Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro, former Delta PDP Party Chairmen and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, as well as all those who made his victory possible, for all the support they had displayed to ensure his emergence.

Immediate past Chairman of the party, Chief Edwin Uzor thanked members of the party for their support which led to the success stories of the party at the polls and called for extension of such support to the new executive committee while Mrs Nwandu observed that the elections were peaceful and congratulated the PDP in Delta State for a peaceful congress.

One of the highlights of the eventful congress, which also had the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr (Dcn,) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro and former Party Chairman Captain Pius Sinebe, in attendance, was the formal dissolution of the immediate past Exco led by Chief Edwin Uzor, in a motion, first presented by pioneer Delta PDP Chairman, Senator James Manager, moved by former Chairman, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Seconded by Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leo Okuweh Ogor and endorsed by the congress with a voice vote.

Notably absent at the Congress, were immediate past Delta State Governor and PDP leader, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, his Deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama, recently sacked Senator representing Delta Central and now Special Adviser, to the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, on Reconciliation and Conflict Management, Chief Ighoyota Amori and a number of other prominent Delta Central politicians, who were supposed to be statutory delegates for the congress.
