                                                                                                                                                                                          Date: 6th June, 2016

GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The attention of the Delta State Directorate of Transport has been drawn to the illegal and harmful activities of some taxi drivers and Tricycle (Keke) operators, who are in the habit of parking their vehicles indiscriminately along the road and operate illegal parks along major roads and street junctions across the State, thereby obstructing the free flow of traffic.

Also some traders display their wares openly on the road, thereby making it difficult for motorists and other road users to move freely.

For the avoidance of doubt, the State Directorate of Transport has noted that the activities of these groups of persons are responsible for the observed Traffic Flash Points on many road junctions and markets across the State.

The Directorate hereby condemns this act of illegality, which has brought untold hardship to motorists and road users in the State.

Accordingly, taxi drivers and tricycle operators are by this announcement advised to stop the operation of illegal parks at street junctions and markets.
