GROUP CALLS FOR CREATION OF WARRI DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

akpovetaForemost Urhobo socio/political group, Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organization (UPIO) has appealed to Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to establish Warri and its Environs Development Agency.

The President of the group Dr. (Olorogun) Ebenezer Okorodudu who made the appeal in his speech during the group’s felicitation visit to one of its member Dr (Olorogun) Isaac Akpoveta on his appointment as the Executive Chairman of Delta State Contributory Health Commission at his country home Ofuoma Ughelli on Monday June 20th, 2016 explained that the appeal was necessitated by the fact that Warri is the economic hub of Delta State; “And as such, this is not a selfish demand because Warri plays a very significant role in the development of the state. It is not a town that is owned by the Urhobos alone. The Itsekiris and Ijaw are also there. Warri is a centre of industrialization and a centre of civilization. So establishing such an Agency will upgrade the standard and development of the area”.

Okorodudu announced the group’s decision on passing of vote of confidence on governor Okowa for his achievements in one year in office and for appointing members of the group and other Urhobos into his administration and appealed to the Governor to rehabilitate the Ogor Technical High School in Ughelli North Local Government Area like the ones in Sapele, Ofagbe and Agbor for the technological advancement of the state.
